Greenville/Donaldson circuit race/March 2nd: Empty Greenville/Donaldson circuit race/March 2nd:

Women/Women 4
Kristine Gum 21st/10th in the combined race. This was Kristine's 1st road race and she did well. She moved up from the back 3rd to the front 3rd of riders going into the sprint which was good since there was a lot of wind leading up to the sprint and I didn't have to yell at her to move up. There were 34 finishers.
Other locals were Melissa Weddell team Bi-Lo who placed 10th/4th in the W/W4 combined race.

There were 34 finishers in the cat 4 race demoralized by our newly christened Polar Express, John Alvarez.

The 35+ race was crippled almost from the gun by a 5 man break with local Sean "Big Dogs" /"Who's Patrick" Wedell that stayed away and took 3rd(Carolina Tri). You'll have to ask Melissa. At half point Charles Ridlehuber and one of "Big Dogs" teammates rode away from the field that was then controlled by OSP's Ski(Coppenhagen), Sellers(Sugarman),and Captain "Babys Daddy" Schoeffler. Other notables were 50 year "Old Man" Maggioni(Team One) who competed in his first race since surgery and enjoyed actually racing on 2 legs. There were 46 finishers in the 35+.

The pre race party was held at Nestor's pad where we found our stores of energy for race day in the case of Corona that Jaqua told us was hidden away in the basement. Thanks Paul. Kat, did you tell Nestor about the broken window? We didn't have anything to do with that swarm of insects. I swear. Has anyone seen that picture with Coppenhagen fighting them back with the blow torch?
Sandfly local, Kat Clark (Kenda) rode the Pro 1/2 but didn't realize that you don't have to un echelon when you are on the promoters(Rich Hincapie's) wheel and he's way over the line. At least don't be the 1st one back over. I think she stayed in for about 38 miles. The 4&1/2 hours with intervals in the mountains the day before might have started to test her legs.
